Japan’s imports of naphtha, used in the production of ethylene, rose 6 percent year-on-year to 1.12 million tons in September 2012, the data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed.
On a month-on-month basis, Japan’s September naphtha imports increased 0.9 percent over imports of 1.168 million tons in August 2012.
In terms of value, Japan imported US$ 1.004 billion worth of naphtha during the month of September, registering an increase of 1.72 percent from its imports worth US$ 987.17 million made in previous month.
The average price of imported naphtha in September was US$ 894.4 per ton, a rise of 5.87 percent from the average import price of US$ 844.8 per ton in August, according to the Ministry.
