Amcor and Bosch Packaging Technology have partnered to develop ZipSpeed, an optimal material that has been designed to run on Bosch's new SVE 2520DZ vertical Doy Zip bag machine.
ZipSpeed has been developed to match the performance of the new SVE 2520DZ, which is said to be the fastest Doy Zip vertical bagger in the market.
According to the companies, the PET/PE laminate offers seal strength and a smoother appearance when applying reclosable zippers, thereby improving the appeal of the Doy Zip bags.
The ZipSpeed laminate has a wider sealing temperature range when compared to standard materials.
Amcor Flexibles R&D director Joachim Pietzsch said: "To maximize performance on the machine, we developed a clever sealing application that eliminates the need to punch holes in order to form and seal the bags. This creates simplified and faster processing.
"The ZipSpeed seal temperature range is from 100 - 180°C, which allows customers to use lower seal temperatures. At the same time, the material has high heat resistance for the application of recloseable zippers."
During testing, the ZipSpeed material achieved full machine speed of 100 packs per minute.
Bosch engineering & design manager Patrick Lagarde said: "To develop the best in class vertical Doy Zip bagger, premium bag appearance, high speed and ease of use were key.
"To enable this we worked closely together with Amcor in the development of ZipSpeed, a perfect film for high quality Doy Zip bags, with good runability on Bosch SVE 2520DZ."
The material and the machine will be presented at FachPack in Germany this year.
In May, Bosch introduced SVE 2520 DZ that allows for the production of seven styles of bags, and gives them a glossy finish.
In July, Amcor partnered with Norwegian serialization firm Kezzler to develop an advanced packaging serialization product 'MaXQ', supported by a cloud platform.
