Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Was Officially Crowned as The World's Fastest Roadster

After being stripped of its title as the world’s fastest production car by Guinness World Records, Bugatti has fired back with yet another landmark record – and this time, it’s official.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse has been officially crowned as the world’s fastest roadster, recording a speed of 408.84km/h.

The record run by the Grand Sport Vitesse was held at Volkswagen’s 19.3-kilometre ring in Ehra-Lessien, Germany, with Chinese race driver Anthony Liu behind the wheel.

“The car is, even at such high speeds, incredibly comfortable and stable. With an open top, you can really experience the sound of the engine and yet at even higher speeds I did not get compromised by the wind at all.”

Bugatti will celebrate the event with a limited run of eight examples of the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition.

The special edition Grand Sport Vitesse will feature the same two-tone orange and black paintwork and cost a mighty $2.6 million.

Bugatti is said to be moving ahead with its plans for a 1193kW hardtop Veyron in an attempt to thwart rival Hennessey’s goal of surpassing 435km/h.
