China-based LED lighting firm NVC Lighting Technology has reportedly banned cooperating local distributors from displaying and selling LED products from Taiwan-based LED packaging house Everlight, and the distributors that violate the ban will face suspended shipments and lose the rights to sell NVC products, according to China-based media reports. NVC also reportedly asked distributors to increase displaying NVC products, said the reports.
LED firms noted that the source of the news comes from China-based distributors that have been warned by NVC recently after introducing Everlight LED products.
Everlight stated that the firm will look into the matter to gain a further understanding. However, China's LED lighting market is huge with many different distribution channels, hence it is unlikely for one firm to dominate. Also, if the matter is true, this shows that Everlight's products are competitive which may open new doors for the brand in China, said the firm.
