Trade Resources Industry Views Raw Log Exports Keep B. C. Taxpayers Working

Raw Log Exports Keep B. C. Taxpayers Working

Raw log exports keep B. C. Taxpayers working. Del Horn forgets to remember that B. C. Is not the only place in the world to buy lumber from. If he wants raw log exports to stop and the logs made into lumber here in B. C., he must decide on how that will be done. Presently, the wages are too high in our forestry industry to ever consider cutting more logs into lumber in B. C. Supporters of Jim Sinclair and the B. C. Federation of Labour are too ignorant to admit that wages would have to be lowered, and if not, having lumber piled up in mill lots with no markets to go to does not make economic sense. Everyone likes to have a good paying job in the forest industry, but B. C. Does not have a monopoly on world lumber, and so in the meantime, raw log exports do give paycheques to B. C. Taxpayers, and maybe someday B. C. Can become more competitive in lumber pricing. Source: canada
