Spartan Motors subsidiary Spartan Chassis has received a contract to supply 25 Metro Star emergency response cabs and chassis to the Beijing, Shenyang, Suzhou, Taiyuan, Wenzhou and Wuhan Fire Departments in China.
The company said that the recent order brings the total number of Spartan emergency response cab and chassis purchased by China to 94.
As per the contracts, Spartan will provide the emergency response cab and chassis to W.S. Darley & Company in the fourth quarter of 2011 and first quarter of 2012 for the addition of the body and pump systems to fulfill the order.
The company said that the vehicles are scheduled for delivery to the Chinese fire departments during the second quarter of 2012.
Spartan Motors chief operating officer Tom Gorman said as a result of the company's customer-centric approach and innovative products, its strong domestic reputation is now creating incredible opportunities outside of North America.
"International customers such as these six Chinese fire departments are in need of unique, premium products that can only be found at Spartan Chassis," Gorman said.
W.S. Darley will be installing a heavy duty Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) on many of the Spartan Chassis units, which features special pumps with the ability to pump water and foam to the top floors of buildings that are more than 300 meters tall.
