Japan's Hot Rolled Plate and Sheet Shipments Decreased by 11.34 Percent

In December last year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet shipments decreased by 11.34 percent compared to November and were down 1.63 percent on year-on-year basis, amounting to 829,474 metric tons. 73 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 27 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. In December last year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 812,759 mt, down 9.89 percent month on month and down 1.27 percent year on year.

In December, Japan's hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.51 million mt, up 4.31 percent from November and up 4.49 percent year on year. 32 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 68 percent were made to the export markets. In December last year, Japan's hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.44 million mt, up 4.69 percent month on month and up 7.46 percent year on year.
