According to source reported that Vale Canada Newfoundland Long Harbor nickel smelting plant announced 1000 construction workers will be dismissed, due to refinery construction project completed. Vale Corporate Affairs Manager said the mechanical completion of the installation works on Thursday, predicting more layoffs coming. In the meantime, the company also plans to recall 800 workers, ready to start the smelter, and canceled night shifts. The smelter is expected to be operated in 2014.
