The Spanish Knitwear Industry's Exports Increased by 14.3 Percent in Jan-Sept'13

The Spanish knitwear industry’s exports increased by 14.3 percent year-on-year during the first nine months of 2013, as per the data released by Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX).

Spanish Knitwear Exports Rise 14.3% in Jan-Sept’13

According to the ICEX data, exports of knitwear from Spain stood at €2.4 billion during the January to September 2013 period, indicating an increase of 14.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

The highest exports of knitwear were from Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, which exported knitwear worth €914 million during the first nine months of 2013, accounting for 37.6 percent of the total exports of knitwear from Spain.

The autonomous community of Galicia came second with exports of knitwear amounting to €826 million during the January to September period, accounting for 34 percent of the total knitwear exports.

France remained the main destination for Spanish knitwear exports, as during the first nine months of 2013, Spain exported knitwear worth €403 million, followed by Italy, with Spain exporting knitwear worth €287.5 million.

Meanwhile, imports of knitwear in Spain totaled to €3.5 billion, during the January to September 2013, indicating an increase of 1.4 percent year-on-year, according to the ICEX data.
