Key Technology, a manufacturer of automation systems, has unveiled a specialized Iso-Flo vibratory conveyor, which can be integrated with a metal detector to check bulk foods on processing and packaging distribution lines.
The enhanced system is more suitable for inspecting frozen fruits and vegetables at freezer, for blanched fruits and vegetables prior to canning and frozen meat and poultry, shredded cheese and other products.
The company’s vibratory solutions decrease maintenance and restrict product spillage compared to traditional plastic or fabric belt conveyor systems integrated with metal detectors, said Key Technology.
Iso-Flo vibratory conveyor has been upgraded with the addition of three conveyor bed sections, including stainless steel infeed, non-metallic section that passes through the metal detector’s aperture and stainless steel section with a reject device.
As per the customer requirement, the company can design the individual system with preferred metal detector and aperture size.
The infeed section can integrate a screen capability to scalp or remove fines, small particles or water, if necessary.
The reject device can be added with a pneumatic gate within the shaker bed that opens and closes, as well as slide chute at the discharge of the shaker bed that shifts direction if metal contamination is detected.
Iso-Flo’s stainless steel conveyor beds feature a standard rotary polish within the product contact zone or one of several optional finishes based on the requirement of each customer.
Key’s rotary polished finish will decrease bacterial attachment and biofilm formation compared to 2B mill finish.
Standard oil-free drives, elastomer isolators, scalloped flat bars, patented stainless steel ground arms and minimal laminations enhance equipment hygiene and help meet sanitary standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Technology area sales manager Mark Roedl said: “Our vibratory conveyor for use with a metal detector is a great solution for processors that want to elevate hygiene and improve product containment.
“Vibratory shakers offer a lot of sanitation and operational advantages, especially compared to belt conveyors for this application.”
