Valmet, a developer and supplier of technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries, has secured a contract to supply IQ moisturizer systems to Thailand-based SCG Packaging.

Under the deal, Valmet will supply three IQ moisturizer systems to Siam Kraft Industry and Thai Cane Paper Public, which are managed by SCG Packaging.

The company will install three moisturizers with moisture CD control at PM6 and PM7 at Wangsala mill and PM11 at Prachinburi mill to enhance the board quality on paper machines.

Valmet plans to complete the delivery of machines during the first two quarters of 2018.

Valmet IQ moisturizer features air-atomized micro-droplet nozzle, linear water control valve and electromechanical actuator with position feedback.

The application-matched solution will help paper and board makers to improve moisture profile, control curl and increase moisture level.

Siam Kraft Industry plant reliability and engineering manager Suteephong Sumphaophok said: “Other mills in our group that have been equipped with the latest Valmet moisturizer solution, such as Siam Kraft's PM1, PM3, PM5, PM8, PM16, PM17 and mill at Thai Paper Glassine, have been satisfied with Valmet IQ Moisturizer's performance.”

Valmet South East Asia automation sales and service manager Hannu Yrjölä said: "SCG Packaging has trusted Valmet's moisturizer technology in various other projects we have done over the years.”

SCG Packaging provides different products and services, including paper packaging, flexible packaging, food safety packaging, pre-print technology and an offset printing system.

Separately, Vlamet also secured a contract from an undisclosed customer to supply board machine key technology and machine control systems for three new containerboard machines in China.

Under the contract, Valmet will supply six new headboxes and three press sections for the containerboard machines, of which two will be producing liner and one fluting.
