AICP and SNPP of Paraguay Initiated New Training Courses for Garment Workers

With the intention of meeting the growing demand of skilled workers for clothing industry of Paraguay, the Tailoring Industry Association of Paraguay (AICP) and the National Vocation Service of the Ministry of Justice and Labor of Paraguay (SNPP) together initiated new training courses for garment workers which are scheduled to begin from February 2014.

According to a statement issued by SNPP, Guillermo Sosa, director of SNPP and AICP president Santiago Colombino recently presented the schedule of the training courses at the Centre of Professional Development of Garment Industry at SNPP headquarters in the Paraguayan city of Asuncion.

The AICP and SNPP would offer courses on industrial sewing, advanced manufacturing with a special focus on monitoring areas of programs, quality and costs in garment manufacturing, as well as training in handling the Gerber I and II, an operating system that speeds up the production process by optimizing the use fabric cuts.

During the presentation, SNPP director Mr. Sosa said the common objective behind initiating these courses is increasing competitiveness of apparel manufacturing companies of Paraguay in order to increase exports, as well as provide Paraguayan people with decent and sustainable employment.

AICP president Mr. Colombino said the continuation of the project will create a positive impact in the garment sector of the country.

According to the AICP official, last year, several such courses were conducted by AICP and SNPP which were attended by many who were integrated into the garment labor market, and this year both the associations are confident that together the goal would be achieved to train more workers especially to meet the demand of skilled laborers in the clothing industry.
