According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in February this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 76,989 metric tons, falling 36.1 percent month on month and down 27.5 percent compared to February 2012, and regressing to the levels seen in November last year. In February, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $614/mt, falling compared to the average of $653/mt recorded in the same month of 2012.
Turkey's wire export volumes to Libya, which were at high monthly levels of around 15,000 mt in the November 2012-January 2013 period, fell strongly in February to 1,453 mt. On the other hand, Turkey's overall wire rod exports to the Middle East region totaled just 15,519 mt in February, remaining under 20,000 mt for the third consecutive month.

In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 197,450 metric tons, increasing by 12.9 percent compared to the same period of 2012, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $119.5 million, increasing by 4.65 percent year on year.
