A Meeting of EU Member States Voted in Favour of Provisional Tariffs on Imported Tiles

Tags: tile

A meeting of EU Member States voted in favour of imposing provisional tariffs on imported tiles from China, with the UK having abstained on the vote. The EU Commission is likely to confirm this over the coming few days with provisional tariffs being imposed on product landing in Europe from 19 March 2011. Whilst we wait for the Commission to ratify the decision there will be no official confirmation from Brussels about the exact tariffs to be charged, however Tilezine understands they will vary from 26-36% and up to 73% depending on the amount of "cooperation" provided by individual Chinese manufacturers. EU officials have until September to confirm the tariffs, after which time they could be in place for up to 5 years. Source: tilezine.co.uk
