Steel Import Value of Turkey Decreased by 16.4% in February

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in February this year Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.4 billion, decreasing by 16.4 percent year on year and down 4.6 percent compared to January this year. Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country in the given month.

Meanwhile, in February Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 17th among the products with the highest import value, rose by 23.9 percent compared to February 2012 and were down 1.3 percent month on month, amounting to $205.7 million.

In the first two months of 2013, the country's iron and steel imports stood at $2.9 billion, decreasing by 10.8 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012, while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $414 million, up by 22.9 percent year on year.
