Brooks was praised for her mission to get girls interested in engineering through toys.
Roominate co-founder Alice Brooks has been named in Forbes’ annual 30 under 30 list, becoming the only toy industry representative to star in this year’s manufacturing category.
Brooks was selected by a panel of A-list judges who praised the 26 year old for her mission to inspire girls to become interested in science and engineering through the Roominate toy lines.
Brooks founded Roominate while she was studying for her masters in engineering at Stanford. The toy line encourages kids to construct a variety of builds including working windmills, merry-go-rounds and elevators.
Her company took the spotlight last year when a deal made on Shark Tank (the US answer to Dragon’s Den) saw entrepreneurs Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner invest $500,000 to share a five per cent stake in the business.
Brooks’ Roominate toy line already enjoys a strong presence in major toy retailers including Toys R Us, RadioShack and Walmart.
