Delmhorst Instrument Co. introduces TechScan, the pinless moisture meter specifically designed for restoration professionals, flooring installers and inspectors, and home inspectors. It is made for those who want to swiftly take the first step in finding moisture in floors and walls by scanning the surface of large areas for a preliminary reading and then follow up with a pin-type meter to identify the specific problem, or use it as a stand-alone tool.
The right moisture diagnostic and measurement tools are necessary whether you’re addressing water damage, testing to ensure that a subfloor and top floor have a similar percentage of moisture content or ensuring a potential homeowner of the structural integrity of a home during a sale.
“Moisture meters are one of the most important instruments a contractor can have in his tool box, and TechScan was designed with the latest features and functionality requested by our customers,” said Paul Laurenzi, vice president of sales and marketing for Delmhorst Instrument Co.
TechScan is a handheld, analog meter with an easy-to-read display. It is non-invasive and non-destructive on the sample. TechScan makes it easy to get to hard-to-reach places, quickly sweep large areas, and locate moisture “hot-spots” in walls and floors made of wood, drywall, concrete and other building materials.
TechScan is a non-contact device capable of high-resolution measurements to detect moisture by placing a durable, one-piece sensor plate on a surface to measure an area of 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches. The rugged electrode pad measures moisture up to 3/4” (1.9 cm) deep without damaging the sample. It features an intuitive user interface, wood species correction chart, color-coded reference scale for non-wood material, built-in calibration check to minimize false readings, and an internal battery check.
As TechScan is positioned on a damp surface, the instrument displays the %MC on wood, as well as provides a relative reading on other materials, including drywall and concrete. The hold function freezes the reading on the screen and an adjustable alarm alerts the tech when a preselected moisture level has been reached. TechScan is offered at $375 USD and is available for immediate shipment. Delmhorst is offering a limited-time $50 rebate for the launch.
“TechScan and the upcoming ProScan, which is due to hit the market in a few months, now give technicians a wider choice of Delmhorst pinless moisture meters,” added Laurenzi.
