According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the January-March period of the current year Russia registered a 2.8 percent decline in its rolled steel product output to 13.6 million mt, a 4.6 percent decrease in its crude steel output to 17.2 million mt and a 0.8 percent decline in its pig iron production to 12.5 million mt, all year on year. In the given period, Russia saw a 1.9 percent rise year on year in its steel pipe production to 2.3 million mt.
In addition, in January-March Russia produced 85.9 million mt of coal, down 0.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
