The Governing Board of MODINT, the Dutch employer’s organization for fashion, interiors, carpets and textiles, will nominate the current Director General H.J.A. (Han) Bekke (63) as the new Chairman of MODINT at the general members’ meeting to be held on 14 March 2013.
The current Chairman, Alphons Schouten, will be taking up other activities after his involvement in the administration of the clothing, carpets and textile organization over the last 17 years. Han Bekke will resign as Director General and will be succeeded by Patric Hanselman (41), who is currently the Deputy Manager of the organization.
Alphons Schouten explained that after 20 years of being Director General, Han Bekke indicated that he wanted to lay down his responsibilities at MODINT. “With his departure, MODINT would lose a large amount of sector knowledge, as well as a large network spread over various sectors, and not least, a thorough knowledge of the MODINT organization. In the current, difficult trading conditions and adverse circumstances, such accumulated knowledge and extensive networks are of significant added value, which will be secured by the organization thanks to the proposed appointment”, according to Alphons Schouten.
Han Bekke will soon resign from his position as Director General and terminate his employment with MODINT in preparation of taking up the role of Chairman. He will combine his new position with his existing role as Secretary General of International Apparel Federation (IAF), the global clothing organization.
Han Bekke is delighted that his close relationship with MODINT will continue in his position on the Board and sees Patric Hanselman as the appropriate person to follow him and lead the organization operationally into the future. “He has extensive experience in carrying out management functions within the sector organizations, and for the last three years has been the Deputy Director at MODINT.
Over that period he has committed enormous amounts of effort and involvement in MODINT and has proven to have excellent strategic understanding that has been evident in the drawing up of the long-term plan. He is participative and by nature tends to draw people together. He is also commercial-minded and results-oriented, and has an excellent feel for the social and administrative context of our organization”, Han Bekke stated.
