The US flooring group Mohawk Industries closed its acquisition of the Italian tile producer Marazzi Group, on 3 April 2013. The purchase price equalling US$1.5bn was paid in a combination of cash payment and company shares. The purchase price is eight times the group's EBITDA; according to Mohawk, Marazzi booked pro forma EBITDA of US$186m in the twelve months running until the end of September 2012. The integration of Marazzi and its integration into the Dal-Tile division should deliver a significant expansion to Mohawk's tile operations in North America, Russia and Europe.
