The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has launched an antitrust probe into PV modules and laminates (semi-finished PV modules) imported from China.
CBSA said in a statement released on December 6 that the investigation follows a complaint jointly filed by four Canada-based PV makers: Eclipsall Energy, Heliene, Silfab Ontario and Solgate, the sources said. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal will examine the results of the investigation by February 3, 2015 and make preliminary decision on March 5.
Industry observers from Taiwan said the Canada government is worried that the country may become a transshipment station for China-based PV module makers' exports to the US market after the US government makes final antitrust tariff rates on China-produced PV modules in December 2014 and January 2015.
