Coal Exports From PWCS Terminals Totaled 7.63 Million Mt in November This Year

Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 7.63 million mt in November this year, decreasing by 25.59 percent compared to October, according to the company's announcement. 13 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.

In the first 11 months of this year, coking coal exports constituted 16 percent of overall coal exports from PWCS, which totaled 99.72 million mt, up 3.85 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in the first 11 months of the year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 50.79 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China constituted 22.01 percent of the total.

PWCS accounts for one third of Australia's export of coal, which is the country's second most important export comodity in terms of value.
