Spain-based Derprosa, which specialises in the development, manufacture and commercialisation of Biaxially oriented Polypropylene film (BOOP) for the graphic arts’ sector, is set to double its production capacity for 2015 with a new line at its plant in Alcalá la Real.
Recently, the company was granted patent for SoFT TOUcH film on an exclusive and permanent basis by the European Patent Office (EPO).
As a result of this patent, Derprosa-Ti will be able to supply higher-quality film on an exclusive basis to all the brands in Europe.
SoFT TOUcH is a quality film with total image, colour fidelity and a velvety touch - all these characteristcs enable the printing of a posteriori without any damage.
Besides being resistant to scratches, its optical properties come with finishes that do not distort the original colours.
With the expansion of the company's present plant, Derprosa-Ti will be able to handle the increasing market demand for these films.
At the end of 2014, the company had a total of 150 direct jobs and 50 indirect jobs, all of which have been split between the Alcalá la Real plant and the worldwide commercial network.
BOOP is a film that is obtained when polypropylene film is extruded and stretched in both the machine direction and across machine direction.
Biaxial orientation leads to an increase in strength and clarity. BOOP is primarily used for packaging products such as snacks, fresh produce and confectionery.
