Some residents of a Wisconsin city aren’t happy about the community’s latest cost-saving move.
Clintonville city leaders had to come up with $357, 000 in budget cuts. They came up with an idea to turn off some streetlights at night.
Resident Carol Oestreich said it’s a bad idea for people who like to walk at night and for children out late playing sports.
The city has turned off about 70 lights, or about 10 percent of the city’s streetlights. City administrator Lisa Kuss said that will save about $7, 000 a year. She said police officers are still out patrolling the streets.
Kuss told WLUK-TV that streets are partially lit, so safety is not being compromised.
