Diecut UK Installs Second Goldline for SMP Group

Machinery manufacturer and supplier Diecut UK has installed its manual diecutting machine, the Goldline 1900, at SMP Group.

It SMP's second investment in a Goldline manual die-cutter to further increase its safety and productivity.

SMP Group finishing director Rick Bleek said: “One of our old Viking clamshell platens is nearing its sell-by-date so we decided to buy another Goldline to replace it. The main reasons for buying it are safety and speed of use.

“Productivity will be increased because of the ease of use, they’re much more efficient and a lot safer than the old clamshell machines.”

Goldline was launched by Diecut UK in 2012 to serve as a safer alternative to hand-fed platens and clamshell technology.

According to the manufacturer, a press of the button helps operators to release the internal tooling on the machine. This it says can prevent full body access besides improving the security of the machines.

Capable of handling media up to 12mm thickness, the Goldline machine is said to be capable of cutting all types of solid substrate from corrugated boards, display boards, rigid PVC and also foam-centred boards.

The manual diecutting machine can also provide kiss-cutting for self-adhesive vinyl.

While the first Goldline machine installed for SMP has a cutting size of 2,050 x 1,500mm, the new machine has a slightly smaller cutting size of 1,850 x 1,300mm.

SMP business previously served as the beta test site for the first Goldline printer four years ago.

In October, Diecut UK’s Goldline 2500 was installed at Ridge & Tyler (Print & Packaging) Services to replace an aging VK2500 Clamshell Platen.
