In the January-November period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China (from a total of 80 shipbuilding enterprises) amounted to 38.86 million deadweight tons (dwt), down 23.1 percent year on year, according to the figures released by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) on December 23.
In the given period, China's new ship orders amounted to 51.86 million dwt, up 204 percent year on year. As of the end of November, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 119.23 million dwt, up 5.2 percent year on year and up 11.5 percent compared to the end of 2012.
In the January-November period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 32.41 million dwt, down 24.2 percent year on year and accounting for 83.4 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China. In the given period, China's new ship export orders amounted to 48.07 million dwt, up 260 percent year on year and constituting 92.7 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of November, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 104.68 million dwt, up 11.5 percent compared with the corresponding date in 2012 and constituting 87.8 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
In the first 11 months this year, the total industrial output value of the 80 shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to RMB 322.8 billion ($52.75 billion), down 10.6 percent year on year. The aggregate export value of the 80 ship enterprises was RMB 163.5 billion ($26.72 billion), down 15.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, total operating revenue and gross profit of the enterprises in question amounted to RMB 217.4 billion ($35.52 billion) and RMB 4.66 billion ($0.76 billion), down 15.8 percent and 63.5 percent respectively, both year on year.
In the January-November period of this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 32.07 million dwt, down 28.8 percent year on year. In the given period, the new ship orders of the 39 enterprises in question amounted to 49.55 million dwt, up 253 percent year on year. As of the end of November, ship orders on the books of these large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises totaled 108.96 million dwt, up 7.7 percent year on year.
In the January-November period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 27.22 million dwt, down 28.9 percent year on year and accounting for 84.9 percent of the total shipbuilding output of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises in China.
In the given period, new ship export orders of the 39 large and medium-size Chinese shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 46.13 million dwt, up 319 percent year on year and constituting 93.1 percent of total new ship orders of these enterprises. As of the end of November, ship export orders on the books of the Chinese shipbuilding enterprises in question totaled 95.44 million dwt, up 13.7 percent compared with the same period of 2012 and constituting 87.6 percent of total ship orders on the books of the 39 large and medium-size shipbuilding enterprises.
