Southern Province Cement announced a 16% increase in net profit to $199m for the nine months to September 30, and an 11% increase in year-on-year profits to $53.3m for the three months since June 30. The company, which operates three plants in Jazan, Bisha and Tahamah in Makkah region, also increased earnings per share to $1.42 from $1.23 last year. It attributed growth to the higher demand for cement from local markets. Southern Province has been trading since 1978 and opened a second production line at its Tamamah plant earlier this year.
