Ternium Reports Higher Quarterly Earnings From Last Year

During the second quarter of 2014, Ternium's operating cash flow was US$330.1 million, an 11 percent decrease from the same period last year due to higher value and lower operating costs of steel.

In its financial report for the period April-June 2014, the company noted that the operating cost per ton increased mainly due to higher costs of raw materials and purchased slabs, and increased maintenance costs associated with scheduled stops made during the second quarter of 2014 in Ternium's plants in Mexico.

They stressed that the revenue per ton of steel increased 2 percent in Mexico and just 1 percent in the Southern markets.

The company's revenue was US$2.203 billion for the quarter, up 3 percent from revenue registered in the second quarter of last year.

The company's net profit was US$129.1 million? in the period April-June 2014, 25.7 percent higher than the US$102.7 million registered in the same period of 2013.
