The firm was eyed by Rubie’s for its ‘independent and profitable business model’ with ‘considerable potential for further growth.’
Fancy dress specialist Rubie’s Masquerade has acquired the family-owned costumes, wigs and masks firm, Bristol Novelty.
Operating since 1983, the firm was eyed by Rubie’s for its ‘independent and profitable business model’ with ‘considerable potential for further growth.’
Rubie’s will now work with the Bristol Novelty team to expand the product line and distribution channels for 2015.
Formed in the US over 60 years ago, Rubie’s began its European operation in the UK in 1996 and now sells products across the whole of the EMEA.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have reached an agreement to bring Bristol Novelty in to the Rubie’s family,” said Chris Isitt, vice president EMEA and Australia, Rubie’s.
“It is a strong, independent and profitable business with the potential for considerable further growth, an ideal complement to our existing licensed business in Europe.
“We are also delighted that both Chris and Kevin Bater have committed to the new structure for the next few years. Their immense contribution to the Bristol Novelty business over the last 30 years has been the foundation of the company’s success.
“We look forward to working with them and their excellent team to expand the product line and distribution channel for 2015.”
Chris and Kevin Bater, joint managing directors at Bristol Novelty confirmed the expansion plans.
Bristol Novelty will continue to concentrate on its comprehensive and successful proprietary offer, while Rubie’s maintains its focus on the licensed range that has underpinned its success over the last 15 years.
