“In Spring/Summer 2014 G DESIGN presents progressive fabrics, washes and patterns in an unusual mix. We see a clear tendency towards slim trousers, rounded off by tapered styles that offer loose, casual widths at the thigh.”
Marc-Alexander Kofler, Brand Director G DESIGN
Silhouettes: Retro, loose-fitting trousers and tapered and biker styles exude a casual air while single and double pleat top trousers and sporty chinos look smart.
Colours: Neutral and natural tones dominate like white chalk, soft black, titanium, stone grey, sand, khaki and light brown. Adding accents are mustard, seaweed, tangerine, artichoke and terracotta. A second key colour scheme is provided by blue tones in all variations from bleached denim to dark denim, from classic blue to deep blue and from red-tinged sky blue to ultramarine.
Denim, Denim, Denim! Jeans are the leitmotif here – either bleached, patched or lasered. Bleached denim teams up with dark denim patches or even with trouser fronts in imitation leather. Black denim exudes a rock look with eyelet studs or a biker style with diamond topstitching. By contrast, we find jeans in natural-tone denim featuring cotton husk particles. Graphic patterns like block stripes, allover lasered wallpaper designs or embroidery are also key.
Pattern-Perfect! The season offers men varied printed, embroidered and woven patterns: alongside nature motifs like palm leaves here we primarily see abstract shapes coming to the fore: horizontal and vertical stripes, mosaics and kaleidoscope or Ikat patterns. Abstract patterns are also joined by figurative shapes like large-scale eagle embroidery.
Colour Direction – Innovative colour and washing processes give the cotton a new look: individual patina is achieved thanks to vintage washes and old or top-dyeing.
Ombré dyeing creates a graduated effect: the rich colour at the waistband and hem fades gradually towards the middle. Contrasting with characteristic colour looks are clean styles – such as a pants with a smart top pleat in a classic colour scheme. Linen looks natural in beige and convinces us as a casually loose retro style.
