Sirona Biochem Has Obtained a European Patent for a New Family

Sirona Biochem has obtained a European patent for a new family of carbohydrate-based compounds.

The compounds are related to Sirona's SGLT2 inhibitor and skin depigmenting agents are protected by the patent.

TFChem, a subsidiary of Sirona Biochem, originally filed the patent on 2 April 2009.

Sirona Biochem chief executive officer Neil Belenkie said, "We will continue our aggressive patent strategy to ensure we are protecting our greatest assets and extending our lead as carbohydrate chemistry experts."

The biotechnology company develops diabetes therapeutics, skin depigmenting and anti-aging agents for cosmetic use, biological ingredients and cancer vaccine antigens.
