NBS: PMI for China's Manufacturing Sector Was at 51.4 Percent in October

The purchasing managers' index (PMI) for China's manufacturing sector was at 51.4 percent in October this year, up 0.3 percentage points compared to September, rising for the fourth consecutive month on month-on-month basis, according to China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The index hit an 18-month high in October, reflecting the improving situation in China's manufacturing industry.

In the given month, the production index for China's manufacturing sector moved up by 1.5 percentage points month on month to 54.4 percent, while the new order index for the sector was at 52.5 percent, remaining above 50 percent for the 13th consecutive month. The new export order index for the sector was down by 0.3 percentage points month on month to 50.4 percent, while the new import order index for the sector was down by 0.4 percentage points month in month to 50.0 percent .

The raw material inventory index for China's manufacturing sector was at 48.6 percent in October, up 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month. The employment index for the sector up by 0.1 percentage points to 49.2 percent, while the supplier delivery time index for the sector was at 50.8 percent, the same as in the previous month.
