Foxconn Has Announced a Plan to Invest US$30 Million to Set up a Firm

Taiwan-based Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) has announced a plan to invest US$30 million to set up a firm that produces solar cells. The firm will be located in Yancheng City, Jiangsu province in China. Foxconn has been eager to enter the solar market for a while. Previous to the Yancheng solar cell firm, Foxconn was rumored to cooperate with China-based solar firm GCL-Poly. At that time, Foxconn made it clear that it was more likely to invest in production of downstream products such as solar cells or systems, rather than upstream materials. Source: www.digitimes.com
