Taiwan-based LED packaging house Unity Opto began construction of its plant in Beijing on September 25, 2012. The plant will be operated by the firm's Beijing subsidiary and expects a capacity of 100 million units of LED packaging and 100 million units of LED lighting bars in the initial stage. In the future, the Beijing subsidiary will extend businesses to modules. The plant will begin production in second-half 2013.
One of Unity Opto's customers is China-based panel maker BOE. Currently, Unity Opto has been supplying products to BOE through its Yangzhou plant.
Unity Opto has been cooperating with China-based Honyar Electrical, a subsidiary of state-owned China Potevio. By having a subsidiary in Beijing, Unity Opto can strengthen the cooperation with Potevio, according to the firm.
