Nokero Announced Release of Bright and Powerful Solar Light Bulb for Schools

Nokero International, the leader in solar lighting, announced today the release of a bright and powerful solar light bulb for schools and medical-clinics.

American inventor, Steve Katsaros, designed the N220 to meet the lighting needs of health clinics and schools where 1.3 billion live without electricity.

"Simply stated, we can not let 1-in-5 people receive healthcare (or learn) in the dark--it is not acceptable." Steve Katsaros

“This new bulb is an extremely useful tool for our friends in the non-profit, for-profit and humanitarian relief sectors,” Katsaros said. “Doctors, medics, teachers and relief workers can’t do their work without proper lighting, but in many of the places where they work, electricity isn’t available or isn’t reliable.”

The Nokero N220 is a very bright, all-in-one solar LED light that fits in the palm of your hand. Its rechargeable batteries are powered by the sun with an efficient solar panel. It charges by day, and then produces enough light for a medic to provide care to a patient even in the dark of night, or for multiple students to study beneath its light, or for a vendor to display wares.

A worldwide problem
Approximately twenty percent of the world’s population lives without electricity, and hundreds of millions more live with intermittent electricity. Most use kerosene, candles, or make due with no light at all. The problem has become so pervasive that the United Nations has declared 2012 the Year of Sustainable Energy for All (Nokero is a proud memeber of the UN Foundation's Sustainable Energy for All SEFA effort).

Nokero's small-scale lighting and solar phone charging products are an affordable, durable solution to this worldwide problem. The N220 is the latest in a series of products designed by the company, and distributed by its partners around the world. It was designed to solve the worldwide problem of energy poverty.

Nokero’s previously released solar products have also proven extremely useful in disaster situations, such as the 2011 earthquake in Turkey, where the bulbs were deployed as part of the ShelterBox relief kit.

Once aid workers arrive at a disaster zone, they must work around the clock to bring relief to a given area. With the Nokero N220, they can now perform complex tasks under the bright light emitted from the N220’s powerful light-emitting-diode (LED).

The Nokero N220 is available via its international distribution partners, which include NGOs, non-profits, for-profits, and humanitarian relief groups or at it's website, Nokero/N200.
