Neenah, Wis.-based Appleton Mfg. Division has successfully field-tested the high-speed P520 Programmable Core Cutter and has begun full production of the model, which is included in its P5 line of advanced programmable core cutters
A new carriage design with stronger movement linkage doubles cutting speed over that offered by other P5 line cutters. The P520 also loads cores twice as fast, and offers increased cut length consistency, according to Appleton.
The company reports the P520 model offers several P510 features including free-standing controls with an Allen-Bradley PanelView touch-screen display, servo-actuated ball-screw drive improvements and an air-assisted knife. The P520 also is compatible with Appleton's Automated Core Cutting Systems including core loading, cut core and parent core handling.
"With the P520, you can create a high speed automated core cutting solution that ranges from the basic to the sophisticated," said Mark Rasper, engineering manager, Appleton Mfg. Division. "Yet the system remains easy to control and requires minimal labor resources to operate.
