A plethora of new incentives will be doled out by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to boost the textile industry in the central Indian state.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Global Investors Summit-2012, state Industries Commissioner RK Chaturvedi said Madhya Pradesh has all the necessary requirements for growth of its textile industry.
He said the state is currently the fourth largest in India in terms of cotton production. Moreover, Ujjain and Burhanpur are together home to 47,000 handlooms and 43,290 powerlooms.
The Industries Commissioner said 50 percent of total suiting production is carried out by Raymonds at its Chhindwara unit. He added that Maheshwari and Chanderi sarees from the state are popular across the country.
He assured the investors that the state government would extend all possible support for modernization of the textile industry in the state.
Mr. Chaturvedi said the state government is currently offering a number of incentives for setting up of small and medium textile units, including a 75 percent subsidy on total premium of land.
He said an apparel complex has started functioning at Pardeshipura in Indore, and the government is now upgrading the existing apparel clusters at Jabalpur and Indore.
He informed that a textile park would soon come up at Chhindwara, and the government is considering setting up of new apparel parks at Jabalpur and Indore.
