L Brands Posted a Hike of 5 Percent

L Brands which markets well-known apparel and intimates brands like Victoria's Secret, PINK, Bath & Body Works, La Senza and Henri Bendel, posted a hike of 5 percent, from a year earlier in its operating income for the second fiscal quarter ending August 2, 2014.

In the second fiscal quarter of 2014, operating rose 5 percent to $375.9 million compared to $357.8 million in the second fiscal quarter of 2013, while net income too increased to $188.4 million compared to $178.9 million last year.

L Brands reported net sales of $2.67 billion for the 13 weeks ended August 2, 2014, up 6 percent from $2.51 billion for the comparable quarter of 2013.

Comparable store sales increased 3 percent year-on-year for the 13 weeks ended August 2, 2014.

Earnings per share for the second fiscal quarter of 2014 stood at $0.63 compared to $0.61 for the quarter ended August 3, 2013.

For the third fiscal quarter of 2014, L Brands expects earnings per share to be between $0.26 to $0.31, and raised its full fiscal year earnings forecast to between $3.03 to $3.18 per share from ist earlier guidance of $3.00 to $3.15.

L Brands operates 2,942 company-owned specialty stores in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and its brands are sold in about 600 additional franchised locations worldwide.
