Support for Calling for Mandatory Entry-Level Training for Truck Drivers

There’s now more support for Ontario Trucking Association’s call for mandatory entry-level training for truck drivers.

The Toronto chapter of the Fleet Safety Council commented in a letter: “The lack of training standards has been a long-standing frustration of many of our members. Moreover, those of us in the industry are often questioned as to why that is the case. Obviously, there is no good answer.”

The FSC is an association for driver trainers, safety directors and other professionals working cooperation with the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association to promote safety within the Ontario transport industry.

The FSC commented: “[We’re] hopeful that by lending our voice to those of OTA, the insurance companies and the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario, this issue can be advanced.”

What’s more, the organization is calling on its other 10 chapters in Ontario to take a similar position.
