The Core Production Shops of Its Yenakiieve Iron & Steel Works Were Hit

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has stated that the core production shops of its Yenakiieve Iron & Steel Works were hit by artillery on August 13. There were no casualties or significant damage to the plant.

In order to prevent a manmade disaster and ensure the safety of the lives of the residents of Yenakiieve, Metinvest Group has decided to shutdown Yenakiieve Steel's core production process. Most of the plant's employees have been sent home. Only essential employees are currently at the plant and are involved in shutting down equipment at the blast furnace, basic oxygen furnace and other shops. The renewal of operations at Yenakiieve Steel will depend upon developments in the region.
