Russian Steelmaker Severstal Enters The Structural Steelwork Fabricating Business

It's reported that Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced to enter the structural steelwork fabricating business with the acquisition of Oryol Steel Fabrication Plant (ZMK) in western Russia.

Meanwhile, the company expects to focus on their own products such as high value-added products into different sectors in order to gain market share for many years to come.

Currently, ZMK is able to produce 12,000 metric tons/year of steel structures however Severstal will plan to triple its capacity to 36,000 mt/year by 2014-2015.

In addition, Severstal targets to increase its share of the Russian steel fabrication market to 10% by 2018 with the steel structure annual production capacity to reach 260,000 tons.

The company has predicted the current market consumption is about 2.6 million tons.
