Gulf Extrusions, one of the largest aluminium extrusion plants in the Gulf, has received the inaugural Gulf Aluminium Council Environmental Awards 2012 under the Downstream Aluminium Companies category. The pioneering winners of GAC Environmental Awards 2012 were feted during an awards ceremony that served as one of the highlights of the recently concluded Arabal 2012 in Doha, Qatar.
Gulf Extrusions has been recognized for demonstrating how innovation and leadership can result in sustainable environmental performance. A committee consisting of senior members and specialists from the Gulf Aluminium Council and International Aluminium Institute, including the GAC Secretary General, the IAI Secretary General, IAI Co-chairman of HSE committee and Director of Safety from Ma'aden reviewed all the proposals submitted for the awards.
Mr Modar Al Mekdad GM of Gulf Extrusions said that "We strongly believe that environmental excellence remains a crucial factor in achieving sustainable growth and long term success. Over the years, Gulf Extrusions has therefore aggressively invested in environmental systems while continuing to adopt and expand key environmental practices such as the use of green aluminium billet for extrusion, production optimization, regular evaluation of CO2 emissions from the extrusion process and Environmental Product Declaration of extruded products, among many others. The distinction from the GAC Environmental Awards 2012 certainly reaffirms the success of our environmental strategy. It likewise inspires us even more to achieve greater heights in promoting green aluminium extrusion as a cornerstone of sustainable development."
