Automated material handling solutions provider in the US, Intelligrated has announced the launch of two new enhancements for its Alvey 950 series hybrid palletizers that are ideal for reduced secondary packaging applications.
The new feature, an on-board stretch bander, which is suited for industries with small and lightweight packaging, can cut down or eliminate the need for tie sheets and stretch wrapping to stabilize loads. It also adds stability to otherwise unstable loads.
Intelligrated claims that the stretch bander uses fewer consumables compared to traditional stretch wrapping and reduces time as well as material requirements.
Another feature, the integrated control system, which is standard for all Alvey 950 series hybrid palletizers, allows both the conventional palletizer and its robotic arms to operate from a single PLC.
The platform streamlines complex control communication, reduces response time and minimizes changeover delays and eliminates the need for traditional proprietary robot controllers.
Startup time, training, programming, hardware and troubleshooting costs will also be minimized by the integrated PLC control system by maintaining a standard familiar control platform.
According to the company, the palletizers integrate robotic arms with a conventional palletizer to increase pattern flexibility and aid quick product changeover.
