General Motors (GM) has launched the new Buick Encore sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Guangzhou, China, which is based on the carmaker’s new all-wheel-drive SUV platform.
The Encore SUV, offered in four trim levels, is powered by an Ecotec 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that produces an output power of 103 kW at 4,900-6,000 rpm and 200Nm torque at 1,850-4,900 rpm.
The engine can either be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a new six-speed automatic/manual transmission.
Complying with latest Euro V emission standard, the new SUV is claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 6.9 L/100km.
The SUV's all-wheel-drive system will distribute torque to the front or rear as per the driving requirements and it can transform from intelligent to front drive mode and back while assuring stability and safety.
Features of the new SUV include electric power steering (EPS), 18-inch Bridgestone Dueler tyres and an advanced braking system.
