Green Clothing for The Deceased Was Created by Melbourne Designer

Go green’ seems to be the buzz word everywhere—first it was mainstream fashion and now funeral clothing which has recently undergone an eco-friendly makeover, thanks to the Melbourne-based designer Pia Interlandi.

Titled as ‘Garments for the Grave’, the collection features a number of simple burial garments made from decomposable fabrics like linen, cotton and hemp.

Devoid of any kind of buttons, zippers and tailoring, the outfits are open, loose-fitting and can be easily placed on the body of the deceased.

The fine fragile layers of veil-like apparels are scientifically designed to decay before the body, so as to allow it to turn into dust.
