Chrysler Group LLC has selected the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac as original equipment on the new Ram Trucks 2014 Power Wagon. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will supply the 33-inch tire in size LT285/70R17.
Goodyear says the 2014 Power Wagon is based on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4x4 crew cab, but features a number of off-road-specific engineering enhancements, including a unique suspension with more than two inches of lift, locking differentials and a 12,000-pound winch.
The company says its 33-inch Wrangler DuraTrac tires provide the Power Wagon with traction to face rugged off-road terrain, such as sand, mud and snow, while still offering a quiet ride on paved roads.
When off-road, self-cleaning shoulder blocks help clear the tire's tread of debris for enhanced dirt, gravel and mud traction. Goodyear's TractiveGroove Technology offers enhanced traction in deep mud and snow.
On the highway, the DuraTrac's highly angled center tread blocks enhance traction and lateral stability while reducing road noise.
"The superior off-road performance of the Wrangler DuraTrac is well suited for a truck like the Ram Power Wagon," says Sara Vacha, Goodyear all-terrain brand manager.
"Ram's choice of the DuraTrac is further testament of the tire's capability—both on and off the road."
