Arcadia Launches Aluminum Cans From Rexam

Sky High Rye from Arcadia Ales has announced the launch of its West Coast-style Pale Ale in 12oz aluminum cans from Rexam. The portable cans serve as a sustainability choice and have a recycle rate at more than double any other beverage package.

Rexam's aluminum can is a better packaging solution for craft beer and enables Arcadia's brand to stand out on retail shelves while delivering recycling benefits, as well as distribution and retail display economics.

Arcadia Brewing owner Tim Surprise said the label on the can features good illustrations and Rexam has transferred that beauty onto the  aluminum can.

"Our consumers will no longer be limited by the restrictions of a glass container, which ultimately makes Sky High Rye more accessible to our loyal fans," Surprise added.

Arcadia Brewing recently broke ground on a 25,000ft2 brewery and 4,500ft2 pub/eatery in Kalamazoo, Michigan, US. The facility is expected to increase the company's annual production capacity from 12,000 barrels to over 30,000.

In 2011, the company launched its seasonal Whitsun Ale in 12oz Rexam cans.

Sky High Rye in cans, which is available at retailers in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Kansas, Pennsylvania and Kentucky at present is brewed with 80% English barley malt and 20% rye malt.
