It is reported that KOKS Group, Russian pig iron and coke producer, announces to idle its 750,000 tpy No. 2 blast furnace at its Tulachermet iron works in western Russia in late May this year for just under 1.5 months for maintenance schedule. Meanwhile, the company will continue operating its No 3 blast furnace with a capacity of 1.45 million tpy. Meanwhile, the company has suspended its No.1 blast furnace till 2015 as pig iron prices are too low and prices for iron ore and coking coal are holding at levels that make pig iron production unprofitable.
