Belgium based women’s lingerie retailer Van de Velde reported a 6.0 per cent year over year sales hike in the first half of 2015 ended June 30, 2015.
An interim report informed that its turnover rose 6.0 per cent from €107.0 million in the first half of 2014 to €113.4 million in the corresponding period in 2015.
On a like-for-like basis including comparable deliveries consolidated revenues were up 8.2 per cent over the first half of 2014.
According to Van de Valde, the sales growth was driven by 8.2 per cent increase in wholesale revenue, while it also reported growth in segments like lingerie, beachwear and stayers.
“Also pre-orders for the second half of 2015 are higher than the same period in the previous year,” it added.
However, sales at the Intimacy segment fell 4.7 per cent in the first half of 2015, while like-for-like sales contracted 10.3 per cent in local currency.
Due to the strengthening of the American dollar against the euro, the retail turnover in euro was up 16.9 per cent year on year.
In Europe, retail turnover rose on a like-for-like basis excluding store closures by 3.8 per cent from like-for-like growth in Germany at 16.7 per cent and the Netherlands at 9.7 per cent.
Van de Valde further added that the results for the first half of the year 2015 will be announced on August 28, 2015.
