Erema Unveils New Refresher System for Post-Consumer Recycling

Austria-based Erema has unveiled new ReFresher system to produce odourless recyclate from post-consumer material such as household packaging waste.

Designed for recyclers and producers, the new ReFresher produces filtrated, degassed and odourless recyclates from contaminated packaging waste.

The Intarema TVEplus technology enables to prevent unpleasant odours from developing during the extrusion process.

The new system will eradicate odours caused by migrated substances, including residues left on the plastic materials. It helps to eliminate odours from food contamination, cleaner/detergent residues and cosmetics.

The ReFresher, which is downstream of the extrusion process, allows to keep the recyclates at the required temperature at which volatile materials can be discharged.

Depending on the end application, the ReFresher is available in different expansion stages

The company is also providing a mobile ReFresher as an additional service for on-site trials directly at the customer's location to accommodate the solution precisely to the requirements of the end product.

Erema CEO Manfred Hackl said: "We recognised the potential of continuously increasing packaging waste early on and worked intensively on finding a technical solution for the odour issue.

“With the ReFresher we offer recyclers and producers the edge in terms of quality to establish themselves in the marketplace with odourless recyclates from household waste.”

Erema post consumer business development manager Clemens Kitzberger said: "At the end of the extrusion process what we have in our hands is high-quality recyclate which is already suitable for many applications.”
